Earth from Space View

WELCOME

The concept for Revolaunch was born in Dayton, Ohio in 2017 from the overactive imagination of a mechanical engineering student who began to see a cultural shift: the (re)awakening of a seemingly long-forgotten affinity for space. This widespread excitement was inspired primarily by the success stories from SpaceX, and rightly so.

With the technological advancements we have today, striving to be a space-faring civilization finally makes sense. However, practically, and economically, this student, named Alex, knew there must be a better way...

Rockets were never meant to be the long-term solution. Defining the goal is simple: minimize cost per mass leaving Earth. By reducing the problem to basic physics principles, Alex found the only viable solution: we must reimagine the launch. What is the objective? Velocity. What is the most efficient way to convert energy into velocity? (Hint: it's NOT burning fuel to expel mass through a nozzle. This approach is incredibly wasteful and is actually one of the most counterproductive mechanical processes in all of history).

Imagine a boat propeller. The propeller works by pushing against the water that is already present. The same logic applies to how a jet engine produces thrust. The air leaving the engine was already there before it entered the engine. Now imagine a car. Rather than using the engine to turn the tires and the tires to push against the road, instead, let's burn all of the gasoline straight out the exhaust and use that force to push the car. Congratulations, you have made a rocket. At REVOLaunch, we believe in a different approach: one that eliminates the need for fuel until the vehicle is already in space rather than dumping 90% of the vehicle's mass (or more) just to get there.

Revolaunch is built upon a concept that provides the most efficient launch possible (according to the laws of physics), and it is exactly what the world needs if we are truly committed to sending anyone or anything beyond Earth's surface. This concept has never been done before because there was never sufficient demand to warrant the scale. Today, there is 1,000x more demand than infrastructure, and without Revolaunch, that gap will only continue to grow exponentially.

To accelerate to orbital / escape velocity, it is no secret that it requires a system of proportional scale. In other words, at full scale, REVOLaunch will be a superstructure. Until then, REVOLaunch will initially focus on the smaller scale by launching payloads capable of withstanding high g-forces (<100g). As REVOLaunch continues to grow, develop, and scale (thus enabling smooth, comfortable acceleration), our launch services will accommodate passengers as well.

Meet Our Team

Who's Who

Founder & CEO

Alex graduated from the University of Dayton in 2019 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and in 2023 with an M.S. in Materials Engineering. He began working at GE Aerospace in 2017, completed the Edison program, and worked under the Advanced Technology Organization on future jet engine design and technology maturation for combustors, turbine blades, systems, and structures.

In 2024, Alex joined Hyliion, a startup that designs and builds clean, versatile, and highly efficient generators using additive manufacturing (3d printing) to produce complex geometries that achieve unprecedented heat transfer rates and power density.
